DFFOO [GL] Cid Raines Lufenia + No Raines or launcher in main party (Vaan BT, Setzer, Porom)
Please note that friend Raines shown in the beginning of the video is not the one I used, I forgot to start the recording until after I had started the fight.
This comp divides the boss into three phases:
1) setup the WoL call initially until the first recast is down, then rush the boss down to as close to 50% as possible. I use both my summon and BT in this phase.
I unfortunately had the use my summon before the BT, because I wanted Vaan to go into his BT with full stacks of both his and Setzer’s LD buffs, to maximize the damage output.
You can only let the boss get two turns after their initial one, until you push it past 50%. If it gets more then two turns, it will reframe its turn once the recast bar is full, and gain back the HP damage shield. Once the boss is pushed past the 50% mark the second phase begins.
2) The Raines Phase: This is when friend Raines is brought in, swapping out Vaan, ideally after the boss triggers his second recast, as it removes his HO damage shield. Once Raines is in, I immediately apply Setzer’s LD, and then use Raines LD to constantly push Porom first, to capitalize on the battery she provides to the party. While Raines is on the field, you can effectively ignore the orb, as his constant launches will leave it at or near max. Once the Raines friend leaves, the final phase begins.
3) The final rush down vs the orb. Layle calls were brought along as they apply the force debuff which increases the frequency of launches, and also have a guaranteed launch on use. At this point the goal is to push the boss back as much as possible via red card and spam out as much DPS as possible. I ended the fight with the orb at one, so it gets pretty tight.
Now a major mistake here was having the Kurasame call on Vaan, as since he was swapped out with the friend Raines, I was unable to reapply it when the boss triggered his second recast, this dropped my DPS by quite a bit, and it probably wouldn’t have been quite as close otherwise
