DFFOO GL - Dimensions' End Transcendence 4: Right Crucible with no BT (Setzer/Vaan/Trey)
This stage almost broke me to be honest. I've been sick and a bit in over my head with stuff to do since Sunday, so I was hoping for this Transcendence to go fairly smoothly like the last two. This stage alone made sure this was not the case.
I felt like I was banging my head against the wall trying to do it with Tidus using Paralyse options so the enemies can't insta-KO him or any other units with melee attacks I may use. I came so close so many times with a variety of different party comps with him, with Onion Knight being my BT user for his turn manipulation and Ice Enchant so Tidus' melee attacks don't get resisted. I also tried Noctis who I had a BT for and while I could have probably made that work, orb management was still a bit tight with him. If I had Tidus' or Vaan's BTs then that strategy would have easily worked as their BT phase damage alone would likely have been the push I'd need, let alone their BT effects, but I haven't been so fortunate, and I'm keeping my tokens for Zidane just in case.
I didn't think I would be able to do this one without a BT for the stat boost as the enemy has oppressive defenses, but I managed to make it through with Setzer's rainbow damage. I didn't think it would be enough but I just about managed. I also took Hope LDCA out for the first time in a while in order to make Vaan's non-rainbow hits decent as well for a little while. Hope's buffs also help protect you from attacks better and the LDCA is an over heal so it's very handy.
The name of the game here is using Setzer's Freeze to keep the BRV Gains in check (and I brought Arciela LDCA as a contingency plan for that), while letting Trey get enough turns in to keep the Orb on lockdown and his traps on the enemy. This run is likely very sloppy as I haven't used Trey before, I only recently got his LD while pulling for Yuna's LD. If you miss getting Freeze/Arciela LDCA setup for their big BRV gains, you can still cut through with rainbow damage so it's not the end of the world but you need to be fast about it so they don't wipe you. The blue aura also prevents BRV gains which both Vaan and Trey rely on, so it's best to break them ASAP by preventing the BRV gains that the enemy gets with the blue aura.
The strategy itself wasn't complex at all though so not much else to say, just a bit nail biting for me given all the stress I went through to beat it lol. Not a big fan of stages with this kind of BRV damage reduction going on.
