DFFOO [JP][Arc 3 Ch 7-1][Alt Run] Non-synergy Leila, Edgar & Varying Papalymo Stacks vs 5 stack orb
When in doubt, use Papalymo lol.
Papalymo vs Orb:
Papalymo has 10 maximum stacks for the orb fulfilment.
At first glance it may seem killing your own brain cells bringing a Papalymo with fluctuating stacks to deal with the orb that depletes 2 count with a player action. In reality it is quite the opposite.
Since his gains stacks whenever an action is taken, and it reaches up to 10 stacks, upon closer inspection only stack I - IV (4 turns) depletes the orb while V-X (6 turns) would reward you with orb count. So you will always have a net gain of 3 count per turn. So it will always be a positive gain.
Since the stack cycle continues even on enemy turns, even should the boss take consecutive turns the positive net gain would still offset the -1 on boss turns. So it is 100% safe, not to mention that Leila is pulling every one forward to prevent that from happening as well.
Support wise, Leila will make the team have many more active turns to deal damage, dodge the normal attacks from both real and manikin Kefka barring the kamikaze Trine+ that she cannot cover for others. She also heals, give some BRV dmg and HP dmg up and most importantly, reduce dmg taken for allies. So the kamikaze Trine+ would hit like a mild gust at best and you can choose CAs to deal with the debuffs instead.
Sniping the boss:
In the dmg departmet, Edgar's magic imperil combined with Papalymo's own elemental imperils will pretty much make Papalymo cap on BRV dmg, though when the AoEs would not cap on HP dmg most of the time because of a lack of HP dmg up taken on the adds. However, the strategy here is to snipe the boss and ignore the adds, so the Xenoglossy uses are much more important.
CAs vs Debuffs:
With the HP dmg on Trine+ taken care of, I basically picked the CAs to exclusively deal with the debuffs and buffs.
Phase 1: at 79%
Reno LDCA: stops all forms of dmg and debuffs
Phase 2 at 49%:
Lenna CA: Debuff evasion, just eat the dmg and push to 29% as soon as possible, ignoring the buffs.
Phase 3 at 29%:
Paine LDCA: eat all of the dmg and debuffs, before going into the Ramza friend summon, use Paine to dispel all enemy buffs and cleanse all debuffs. Get Ramza in, get the LD buff then BT buffs on, and let Papalymo handle the rest with an explosive Ifrit summon phase.
Overall very stable and turn efficient non-synergy team. Runtime seems comparable to the Gilgamesh run.
