DFFOO [JP][Kuja IW] 3 FFX characters that have not been updated for a long time vs current Shinryu
40Someone wanted to see this so I optimized it a bit more and recorded it. Just in case it is not obvious, this is not something meta, so expect it to be relatively slow. It is still finished within all mission parameters and 2 FR though without BT, so I think it is actually pretty good.
Technically Lulu got FE not that long ago, but I haven't given her any points so far, so she is practically the same as she was back in where GL is now currently (1 month before Shinryu). The other two was last updated around 8 months ago in the first month of FR.
The same concept of using elements other than holy and dark still applies, but the target user is Auron this time. The main difference is Auron needs some kind of debuff protection so that he does not get blinded.
Braska + Auron + Lulu has shown some age. I would say in general Lulu and Auron actually aged quite well. Auron practically never fell off due to the counter meta, and he ignores defence on his counter. Lulu needs a bit of defence down help, but since she provides quite a bit of BRV dmg up to the party, even though the boss gets 50% extra BRV dmg resist during their counter phase with defence down from the CAs alone she was able to hit the caps pretty easily. Her 7 dump LD and 5 dump EX still packs quite a punch if the FR% is high.
Braska's problem is mainly due to his FR cp,omg before Kam's buggy FR incident which caused most of the FRs afterwards ramped up the power level much faster. His main FR's shtick is to spam his Curaga to get a higher %, similar to someone like Hope/Aerith's, but as mentioned his multipliers has shown its age, so it is much less desirable than he was released. It is less of a problem when you use him with unconditional follow-up / off-turn characters like Kain / Yang, in this case it is mostly up to Auron.
His FR is nowhere close to most FRs these days that either get very big bonuses or get moderate bonus with HP dmg cap up, but it is still enough to get the job done for most of the "modern Shinryu" fights that are neither Spiritus/Story chapters. Most of them don't even have that much HP anyways, so if you don't mind using 2 FRs instead of speed running everything, Braska still works, just at a slower pace and you are not seeing the usual close to 2m HP dumps.
His conditions are not even hard to fulfil, so as long as FR boards would give him some touch ups, he should be quite ready to go again.
Also no Yuna here, because:
1. She got her FR not that long ago and hers does not work with any of them.
2. These 3 are just very thematically and functionally appropriate, even without BT.
