DFFOO [JP][Mog IW][Ticket run] Moonwalking and high fiving with Mog FR
Quite blessed with FR today, got Mog FR on Kain's banner and got Kain's on Mog's banner. Then I got Ursula and Terra FR on Global. I already have Mog up to LD already, so why not.
The purpose of ticket run is to get the multi-pull ticket for the next event (in this case, it should be Rubicante). It requires you to use the main featured character (who is getting new weapons) on Shinryu without friend support for completion. Very doable with characters up to LD.
This has started since Neon's banner, I am just marking these in case I am doing an alt run that does not use the main character.
Originally I wanted to illustrate the cleansing capabilities of Mog after rework and getting his FR, but then I realized his confusion just prevents the bosses from inflicting debuffs anyways. So I changed my mind and turned this run into a mix of several ideas on how to counter the bosses instead. It pretty much has a fail-safe design to it, so it may give the sense of being excessive and unnecessarily convoluted.
Boss Info:
Force mechanics:
0%: HP dmg at the start of character's turn
30%: Applying debuffs
80%: Applying debuffs+
(both applies "Poison" and "ATK down" onto all of your characters, guaranteed hit (i.e. ignore debuff evasion))
FA: Blizzard++ (AOE BRV+HP)
Inflict "ATK down", guaranteed hit
FT: 2T
If a player character has 2 debuffs or more when the boss gets its turn, boss will use Blizzard+++ and immediately kills you.
Weakness: (cancels the field effect: A blizzard is happening)
FA that deals Range BRV dmg that inflicts 1 or more debuff after usage
Field Effect/Threshold Mechanics:
70/30%: A blizzard is happening:
- Player ATK down and takes 80% BRV gain reduction
- Boss ATK/DEF up
- Counters any BRV dmg with Blizzard+ (AOE BRV)
(guaranteed hit, inflicts "Ice resist down" and "Freeze")
All normal attacks barring the basic BRV attack are Ice based. So Leon absorption would have no effect.
Mog:
Since this is a ticket run with Mog, let's have a look at some key points about Mog's FR and rework before strat talks.
Mog now cleanses two debuffs instead of one. He gets a slight boost to the chance with which he can inflict confusion with his plasma follow-up (not 100%). His normal jump with S1 is not instant turn rate. So if you need emergency cleanse/confusion proc, you can use S1 for an extra command.
Using Mog's FR guarantees 2T confusion on all bosses. At the same time it moderately increases the chance of inflicting debuffs (Can't see the % rn, but I am guessing 100%). Curiously it also has a special effect that allows all party members to party cleanse 1 debuff at the start of a turn. So you don't always need Mog to move for cleansing. This effect is rather hard to show in this one, because his confusion already prevents the boss from countering, and you would not be able to set off the FG debuffs while you are in FT.
All these plays into his FR requiring having no debuffs and enemies having an "unable to act" type of debuff.
Surprisingly there is no requirement for using water based commands, despite his BT giving water enchant. His BT makes his follow-up go off twice, so it also helps with the efficiency of cleansing/applying confusion
General Strat:
As mentioned before, this has become more of an illustration of ideas.
For a ticket run with Mog in and using his FR, having no debuffs and having confusion on the bosses give you the bulk of FR% (50%). The bosses have 3 sources of debuffs (FG, counter, FA). The ones from counterattacks are the only ones that matter during FT.
Since they come from the threshold field effect, you can either time your Mog FA after the relevant thresholds have been reached and shut down the field effect, or just ensure Mog has inflicted confusion onto them and they haven't rinsed if off with turns. Mog's FA has 2T confusion, so a timely refresh can also stop the counters and debuffs altogether.
In the case of having confusion fallen off, you can also stuff yourself with 6 framed buffs. Hope CAs having 2 are great. WoL/Cait Sith are also quite convenient. Selphie is also good, but you may run into the problem of the 3T aura buff falling off.
In this run I used Vivi + Leviathan for another one that is permanent (side note: Vivi golden framed his own Leviathan buff with his BT). Alexander, albeit not permanent, also has a very long duration that should last till the end of the fight.
These measures are not really needed if Mog's confusion is properly maintained, which it has been in this one. Since I am using Serah here and Mog's confusion is not framed however, there are not many CAs that can be used which can further enhance the experience. So I might as well have done something excessive and illustrate more ideas lol.
Finally having Mog's confusion here means I have the HP regen required to counter the HP poison. Vivi's HP drain is also a non-factor, as no one is getting hit anyways.
