DFFOO [JP] The advantage of fire: When Lulu LDCA forms a bond between Rubicante and Minwu
As any off-turn dmg centric FR behaves, multi-trigger off-turn dmg dealers are the best fit for them.
Minwu has been consistently helpful in soooo many situations. I just put him with Vivi before and now Rubicante, a character that is more dedicated to off-turn fire character, has surfaced. Once again Lulu LDCA succeeded in forming more bonds between character with different elements and the stock price has increased once again.
This stage, Spiritus Bahamut, has bosses that actively reduce debuff duration with the "target all" move and off-turn threshold event. As a result, they will additionally trigger even more Minwu traps in one go. We can then sit back and enjoy the light show as Rubicante FR's % increases steadily increases. As we can see, his trap went off for a very long time when all of their duration has been exhausted in one fell swoop at the end.
Debuff duration management is quite key for Minwu for cases like this. Therefore, the balance between pushing thresholds and dealing dmg is quite delicate here.
Also this run serves as a post-bugfix illustration of this stage. Before, this stage used to have all kinds of funky business like bosses not dying even though they had more than 3 debuffs.
Gabranth
Since they need more than 3 debuffs on to die, 2 or above to not impose penalties to most of your relevant stats and dmg output, I employed a recent GL BT user Gabranth for some constant debuff reapplication as the party ges hit. As the thresholds got narrower and the hits got harder near the end, the auto debuffs were quite useful (especially the 12T DEF down). His rebreaks were also quite handy at certain points just to regulate the duration of earky Minwu trap debuffs.
True Fire Enchant
It is quite strange that for the longest time after Lulu LD's release, there has been nearly no fire related FRs apart from Braska until Neon/Vivi/Rubicante came in close succession after 8/9 months. As far as I remember the only element that gets true enchant is fire. So Lulu LDCA is like some kind of antique that has been gaining value over a longer period of time.
Obviously Neon can also achieve this through her debuff stacks. Though if you can't have Neon in the party or you don't have her BT, Lulu LDCA is still a more flexible choice, particularly when Rubicante is the host, as he can carry the CA for a very long time before it expires. As you can see, Rubicante only moved once after he used his FR here. The extra AD up has some really nice applications.
This gives fire related characters a rather unique compatibility boost with other elemental characters. Options like Celes/Sice/Beatrix are also open to Rubi's FR.
P.S.
I was going to do one with Edge and Rubicante. Unfortunately the only recent AOE spamming stage that is Act 3 Interlude does not alllow dodging, so goes the opportunity to title the run "the edge of fire" and a prime chance for putting Edge and Rubicante together.
Regardless, that stage was actually quite interesting to show Minwu + Rubicante as well. The off-turn healing sphere on Rubicante would keep the entire team alive after boss counters, such that they can last until boss takes an active turn and Minwu's trap would trigger and heal the party. It was quite an alternative way to collaborate between the two.
Probably nothing else until Kurasame drops. May spend some tickets on him because ... capped and I can't get the tickets off of the Rubicante exchange shop. Very unlikely that I would BT+ even if I get him because I gotta save ingots somewhere.
