222The fake Santa fight scene with Buddy was actually filmed in front of a green screen. The scene had to be filmed in one take, and they deemed it too dangerous to have all of the kids on scene, so they were edited in after filming their scene separately. You can tell this by watching Buddy when he is framed against the kids when he first spots the fake Santa. For a lot of the scenes where Santa and Buddy are alongside the elves, they actually accomplished this by forced perspective most of the time. Many of the sets had to be built twice to accommodate the different sized actors. The elves usually stood on platforms farther behind Santa when he addresses them at the North Pole.
