1,082A lot of work went into trying to get genuine results from the actors and extras. Jon Favreau actually used a remote control to trigger the Jack in the Boxes so that he could get genuine startled reactions from Will. As for food, when Buddy eats candies with spaghetti, they had to shoot it twice since Will actually threw up the first take. The cotton balls he eats in the doctor’s office are actually cotton candy that they didn’t add any dye to. Also, a lot of the beginning scenes for New York City were filmed on the last day of shooting, and Jon and Will walked around New York City while asking a lot of random people if they wanted to make a quick bit of cash to play random extras.
