4,099They almost didn’t cast Robin Williams since he was known for his habit to improvise. Robin understood that the story was very structured, and he made sure to film the scenes as closely to the outline in the script as possible, but when he was allowed to improvise during scenes with Bonnie Hunt, he would always film duplicate scenes. In fact, one of the most recognizable improvised scenes actually came from Bradley Pierce when he stated “Of course she’ll know where Sarah went, she’s a psychic.” Something that wasn’t improvisation or acting was Robin Williams’ reaction to Van Pelt shooting at him. He mentioned that the blank gunfire was extremely loud, so his startled reaction is real.
