0A fun if not strange and subliminal game developed by Data East in 1992. Being a twist on classics like Bubble Bobble and Super Buster Bros. / Pang, the game features a male and female athlete who are out to stop a mad scientist who's created a bunch of crazy goons and is fattening people all over the world with unhealthy food. You must simply travel around the world defeating his cohorts, grabbing lots of jewels and others goodies for no good reason, and avoiding bad foods (that fatten you, slowing you down until you die). A doujin game was later inspired by this game and improves on its premise, titled "Hane Hane Paradise" (or Hane² Paradise) as well as a subpar modification to DGG called "Fancy World: Earth of Crisis" developed by Unico (who are infamous for stealing source code and editing games then saying not to steal their work... irony). Let's diet!
The graphics are colorful and simple, and the music is upbeat and charming, but the message of the game I would think is lost in translation. Looking at this game wouldn't inspire me to lose weight. If anything, I'd be tempted to eat more. Regardless, it's a fun little game that's better played with a friend. Enjoy.
