Go! Go! Mile Smile [ススメ!!マイルスマイル] Game Sample - Arcade
In what is perhaps a bit unexpected, "Go! Go! Mile Smile" (known in Japan as "Susume!! Mile Smile") is a cute, repetitive action game developed by the small-time developer "Fuuki" in 1995, the same group responsible for "Asura Blade", "Asura Buster", and "Youkaidou", among others. It's a simple game with a neat premise, and is generally good fun (except for the ending, which is neat but kind of a blow to the balls too). The game deals with two travelling Chicken-Bird-Things named Mile and Yard who hit the road to pursue their dreams (apparently one wants to be rich, and the other wants a hot babe). They're in the woods one day when some random fairy pleads for their help to rescue some princess, who has been kidnapped by a demon named Hector. While they're not interested initially, the fairy points out that there will be a reward for her rescue and that she's "young and beautiful". With these words, the two gladly help and you travel around the land stopping Hector's forces.
The game is comprised of 49 stages with varying themes and occasional bosses to face. The object of the game is simply to collect all the gems/items on a level without getting touched by enemies and is somewhat similar to Pac-Man. As time goes by, the fairy will drop a beneficial item on the field such as a point bonus item or egg capsules with varying useful abilities (extra time, time stop, a rainbow barrier that allows you to chase or touch enemies like Power Pellets, etc.). Bosses are fought by meeting a certain condition on the level before they are defeated, which is usually to hit some kind of switch as they attack you or to interact with / destroy specified objects. The game features simple but clean visuals and decent music, and the game is fun to play competitively with a friend as you get in each other's way and steal bonuses for who collects the most items on the stage (a draw results in no bonus for either however). Enjoy.
