Emeraldia is a fun Arcade puzzler only in Japan by Namco in 1993. It was also ported to the Wii Virtual Console in Japan and there is an International version of the game floating around too. It's mainly your standard drop puzzler with variations on the formula necessary to make it more unique. It features three modes of play, Normal, Versus, and Adventure. Normal and Versus are mostly self-explanatory (you play by yourself on Normal and against another player in Versus, where you can add junk on your opponent's side). In Adventure, you help trapped sea creatures make it back to the ocean, clearing puzzles and freeing up blocks so they can reach the bottom of the screen where they can swim free. It features items you can earn and a simple story as well.

The general gameplay is comprised of three tiles that fall down of different colors. Matching any like-color will cause those colors to crack. Matching a like-color with a cracked tile will cause it to break. The idea is to have as many tiles build up as possible matching vertically, horizontally, or diagonally WITHOUT cracking them until you've built a large stack. By doing so, you can crack them near the top and cause large chain reactions which net you large score multipliers. Every so often, you'll also get a star which can erase all of one color from the field. For the purpose of this video, we aim more to clear the levels (20) than to get the highest score (as score actually doesn't determine the level or speed) to fit some of the adventure mode in as well. Enjoy.
