If you want to loop a track then scroll to the chapter markers (not the timestamps!) and click or tap ‘View All’. This brings up a playlist-style Chapter Selection menu where you get the options to share or loop each timestamp.

0/10. There are no Dinos in Dinoforce.
On a more serious note, it made sense to cancel the game; it’s very basic on a technical level and doesn’t even compare to its contemporary PC Engine peers let alone games on the Mega Drive and SNES which were at their peak when 1993 rolled around. To call this version of the game unfinished is wrong however because PCEWorks apparently polished the raw beta with the help of Chris Covell and under the guidance of the original designer. Refer to the link I gave above for more information, people seem to think that the dumped ROM is the original beta when in actuality it has been finished up by PCEWorks with sweeping changes like the balancing or fixing the graphics. I wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming otherwise however. They should compile and release the Beta ROM as well for comparison and preservation.
Thanks to @RetroCore for showing me the proper way to access the sound test.
The game may not be well-regarded but it has many unexplored secrets and you may end up digging it. Try it out. The ROM's free after all.
I recorded the music from the sound test in the game running on an emulator. This may sound horrifying to some but that’s what I did and the results sound pretty good to me at least. I’ve recorded at a very high quality but the game doesn’t seem to have used the stereo functionality of the PC Engine so there’s no stereo. It was rare for games to use stereo anyway because the console only had an RF output which compressed audio down to a mono track. I’ve had to guess where some of the tracks had been used because no one has accessed certain bosses and areas yet so I just named and ordered some of the tracks based on their general vibes. They would probably turn out to be mislabeled in the future.
At the very least I hope my work encourages someone else to properly rip the game’s music because it’s good! I’m pretty sure like everything else the music is unfinished (For example: the untuned backing melody of the Stage 0 theme) but it is by far the most refined aspect of the game. It sounds melodramatic and faux-orchestral in a way that fits an old Tokusatsu show but also has its jazzy moments. Check out the themes for Stage 5 and Stage 6 as well as the Game Over jingle plus that one track I named Alternate Boss 6 even if I have no idea if such a boss exists or if it is the theme used for that boss!
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed the music! Like and subscribe and all…
