In Discworld Noir, you assume the role of a wise cracking yet hopeless detective named Lewton. Because he's investigating the whereabouts of a certain lost lover, you'll walk around interacting with townsfolk and examining the scenery for clues. While it's based on Terry Pratchett's renowned fantasy world, the game sports a dark and dank look that differentiates itself from other releases in this acclaimed adventure series.

You'll control the game with a standard PlayStation controller or the seldom used Mouse for unprecedented cursor movement. The latter provides the most accurate medium of control, but both operate in a similar fashion. Discworld Noir is what you might call a point-and-click adventure title, meaning you'll interact with people and collect items (for certain puzzles) through a cursor-based interface. Once the cursor is positioned over an interactive object, an icon will inform you as to what you can do with it; functions available to Lewton include walking, interaction/use, looking and talking.

Additionally, this game allows you to combine inventoried items and then use them, scroll through a notebook that features various clues you've encountered and confront characters in a situation where one will contradict the other. These features will land you one step closer to uncovering the missing lover of the mysterious client.

While some of Discworld Noir is based around item puzzles, most of your time will be spent inquiring and cracking jokes with people that you encounter; this sequel has all the witty humor fans of the series have come to know and love. Whereas the characters are animated via 3D polygons, the dark and gritty look is achieved through pre-rendered backdrops.
