Dishonored 2 [Gameplay #3] - Sin Deep My Wicked Angels
0I fell off Dishonored 2 rather abruptly despite having made a serious and initially very successful attempt to get into the game earlier this year. The main issue was that my silly perfectionism made progress through the game agonizingly slow and the incessant trial-and-error sucked much of the enjoyment out of the experience.
After many half-hearted attempts to get back on track, I've finally finished both Mission 4 and 5 in comparatively rapid succession. I stubbornly cling to the Very Hard difficulty with No Powers mode and continue to aim for completely non-lethal solutions without being spotted by the enemies. While perhaps not entirely insane for a first playthrough - provided that you're a competent enough stealth gamer - this still amounts to biting off more than I can chew, and my F5 and F8 keys are seeing more action than protagonist Emily Kaldwin...
Despite setting unrealistic goals for myself, the fact that there are perfectly viable No Powers approaches to every scenario reinforces just how expertly designed these intricate missions really are. Arkane's "Play It Your Way" mantra is not just a fancy bullet point for the back of the box; it's truly the foundational philosophy which characterizes every moment of this impressive game.
