These few days I had been busy making this DIY Filter system for my aquarium tank to make my fish tank crystal clear! :D

I will make another video on the piping for over flow system to make the water come out of the fish tank when it reach a certain water level.

For this video, I shows that it's pretty easy to make this DIY filter system using 2 x plastic drawers storage boxes with 3 drawers each stacking up to one stack.

Put the stack into a large IKEA box filled with water to the height of first drawer at the bottom...naturally the bottom drawer can be taken out.

Put the air bubbles pump there to pump oxygen into the water and use a water pump to pump water back into the fish tank.

The filter medium first layer I use a container & a washing machine net to catch small baby shrimps alive just in case they got sucked into the over flow pipe system.

the drawers consist of the wool filter medium, bio-balls, ceramic rings, activated charcoal and other filter medium you want to add. (Do some research on it.)

You can refill water when the water level goes below the water pump at that IKEA plastic box.

I actually over do the filter, in fact you just need like 4 stacks of the drawers with the bottom drawers taken out you have 3 stacks to put your filter...which is probably enough for most people.

my 5 drawers + 1 empty is a little over kill but it's enough filtering for all sizes of fish tanks in the market. :D

Pros
1. Easy maintenance - just pull out and replace filter when needed.
2. Simple to construct
3. Relatively quiet

Cons
1. Unsightly for some people who like to just show the fish tank, it's hard to hide it.
2. Not super cheap, 3 drawers large plastic drawers storage is about SGD $25 each so total I bought 2 of them that's SGD $25 x 2 = $50 and considering the rest of the materials like the soldering iron & filter mediums...it's not super cheap
3. Soldering iron is hot, if you are very careless...you might get burnt so be very careful or get adult supervision!
