5Hey players, DJay here with a new arcade longplay on another Neo Geo Shmup, Blazing Star.
Description of the game:
Blazing Star is a horizontal scrolling bulletstorm shmup by SNK & Yumekobo and is considered a spiritual sequel to Pulstar, released in arcades in February 1998, originally titled as Pulstar Blast before it was later changed. It was then re-released on Android & iOS and digitally on Wii Virtual Console in 2012, on Windows PC in 2016 and on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and XBOX ONE in 2017 & 2018 respectively via Arcade Archives. Unlike the prequel, it now has frequent English voice samples and captions.
Sometime in the past, planets Rumeria and Mutras began a seemingly endless war. The battle between human-like inhabitants of the 2 planets had gone on so long that it moved weapon development into dangerous territory: Organic weapon production combined with alien technology, thus resulting in the creation of Brawshella. It then gathered all animal life to do its bidding and attack the humans, assimilating them within a week. 4 Rumelians regain their consciousness and remembering their pasts. Coincidentally, 2 pilots (Naomi and Kaoru Yamazaki) from Planet Earth also get involved in the conflict. The awakened pilots turn against the machine to rediscover their pasts and save Planet Rumeria.
Gameplay is similar to Pulstar, however with a few new featues, including co-op multiplayer. There are 6 playable ships, each with their own unique weapon, speed level and type to fit the player's needs. Players can now destroy green and magenta enemies to collect "Lucky" panels for bonus points and destroy bosses within a set time limit to earn points. Collision with enemies, hazards or projectiles not only results in losing a life, but also decreases the shot gauge by one level.
Pick your best fighter and put an end to the interplanetary war by destroying Brawshella's forces.
