Hello and welcome to my next play through project; an underrated and obscure action role playing game that, unfortunately, never left the shores of Japan. Brave Prove was released in 1998 for the PS1 and developed by Data West Corporation. Those who know of this game, often jokingly consider it an Alundra clone. Though that may be true in certain elements, like over world exploration and similar battle combat, there are some variations in the game that also set it apart from Alundra like game play mechanics and setting. I first became aware of this game many years ago when I saw screenshots of it in a gaming magazine and I longed to try it out, but could not,primarily as the in game text was all in Japanese and I did not understand it at the time. Now, that an English translation has been released, after so many years, I have the chance to play this (in its entirety).
Our game begins with a gang of thieves called "The Wild Fangs" who are desperately trying to find the Black Crystal: an ancient artifact said to grant wishes to who ever posses it. The gang leader, Fang, has sent out teams of thieves through out the land to find it, but without success. One day, a group return with an ancient scroll that turns out to be a clue to the crystals location. After Fang translates the scroll, he orders his daughter Sheena to go to the Coolis Mountains to retrieve the crystal. Later that night, Sheena and her good friend Ars (the player/you) say their goodbyes before Sheena sets out the next morning on her important quest.
Well..Ars is not going to stand idyll and let Sheena go to the mountains all on her own, So, Ars sets out to try to catch up to Sheena..
