DmC - becoming trapped in a secret mission
2Continuing with the same theme, here is the opposite of escaping from a secret mission. There's a very precise moment when you fall down and respawn that interrupts the sequence of exiting a secret mission, leaving you stranded there. The game believes you are in normal game, and you have the normal menu again, but physically you remain at the secret mission map. Only way to get out is to retry (or maybe in some maps you could also fly back to the main map, but not in this one).
Also included on the vid are two ways to softlock the game using secret missions. First is to Infinite Glide into a secret mission door. Nothing too special, but strange nonetheless. Instead of Dante ending up inside the secret mission, the game spawns him back to the last checkpoint or spawn point, with both him and menus frozen. If the last checkpoint began from a cutscene, something potentially stranger happens instead, with the whole screen staying white, and... I've seen Dante sometimes die during this state, so that the game asks if I want to use a yellow orb. So it doesn't seem to be a softlock like the more common variation, but eh.
The second way to softlock the game is to start Gliding away from a secret mission and exit the game right before the secret mission map unloads. You get the usual fade-in, but that leads to nowhere, and you have to reset the game to continue.
