game studios and developers have to utilise the tech & optimise their games.
Games studios and devs do alot of testing in their games to make sure it's capable of running for their audience
good player experience = more people buying the games.
Having Gen 2 allows devs freedom to make the games look better.
If it's capable of the quest 2 then the quest 3 should have no problems for the next 4 - 5 years these games.

Absolutely, all the games on quest 2 are accessible on quest 3.
It's a major selling point for them to advertise 500+ games on launch
Not only will all those games be buyable, playable and downloadable
without game studios doing a Graphical update

Official meta licenced accessories of course feel premium but so does the price point.
It's the equivalent of buying a case from the apple store when you can get it 70% cheaper on amazon.

Quest 3 itself requires more power then the quest 2.
Graphics being more demanding, higher resolutions it will drain a lot more battery. So yes its become more demanding. Meta claims its about the same battery life as the quest 2. Which is pretty great considering the graphics and resolution increase. So battery life will last around 2 to 3 hours and with the elite battery strap accessory we are probably looking at 4 - 5 hours of battery.

The quest 3 doesn't seem to have that issue due to the change in face cushion
Also the weight distribution plays a massive key feature to not press all the weight on your face

Why would you need a smartphone when you can access all your apps whilst using your hands to interact with them.

The major advancements with the quest 3 & Quest pro is the room tracking and scanning.
Scanning things like your couch and bed let the Mixed reality experiences really interact with your physical space.
Every current AR game very much feels like a tech demo more than tangible replayable games.
But what's important is how accessible this tech is becoming with how affordable the quest 3 is.
developers will now be able to take advantage of these capabilities and blend currently existing games with your reality.
It opens up So many doors and new experiences but we are yet to see how incredible these features are.
It reminds me of when the first iphone dropped.
