We’re going all the way back to 2004 for today’s game review and playing Katamari Damacy.

Originally this was only on PlayStation 2, but a few years back the game was updated and re-released on all the major consoles as Katamari Damacy REROLL.

I rented the Switch version, and it was my first time playing one of these games.

Rolling up objects and growing your katamari is super relaxing and oddly satisfying, but the controls are clunky and take some getting used to.

Levels have different objectives; it’s not always just about collecting as many objects as possible within a certain time limit. But for me, the moment-to-moment gameplay didn’t have much variety, and by the end felt monotonous.

But keep in mind that your mileage may vary; you might never get bored with this. Depending on what you like out of a game, I could see this being an 8 or 9 out of 10 for some people.

Katamari Damacy REROLL is a weird and quirky game that I did somewhat enjoy, but just didn’t love.
