Viktor Jaanimets (July 13, 1931 Tallinn — October 9, 1987 Long Island) was an Estonian sailor and political refugee. In 1960, he fled the Baltika, a passenger ship of the Soviet Union at the port of New York. After that, he appeared in many US cities with more than 120 presentations and interviews. Later, he worked in the US to the very end. He lived in Long Island near New York , where he died in 1987 in loneliness.
