Donkey Kong Ladder Glitch (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
1,426In the NES version of Donkey Kong, there's a way to basically skip the entire first level of the game by climbing down the ladder on the lower right portion of the screen.
When executed properly Mario (aka Jump Man) will descend the ladder, and wrap from the bottom of the game screen to the top. When this happens, simply continue to climb downward until you regain your footing on the top platform, then walk left and finish the level. Congratulations! You've just skipped about 95% of the level.
This trick requires some precise positioning, however. So, in order to execute this very handy glitch, place Mario just to the left of the center of the ladder on the lower right. I like to look at his nose, and if it's about a pixel away from the right side of the ladder, then you're probably in the right spot. After finding the right position, just hold Down on the D-Pad to descend.
Note that sometimes Mario will take damage and die after wrapping around to the top of the screen. I don't know what triggers this, but it happened to me a few times while recording, and I couldn't reliably recreate the conditions that cause Mario to KO while performing this Ladder Trick.
