Jump SLIGHTLY HIGHER in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In Castlevania II: Simon's Quest for the NES, if you use your whip during a forward jump, sometimes Simon will be able to reach platforms that are three blocks higher than his starting position. Usually his jump only gains a height of two (or two and a half) blocks high.
The trick requires a little bit of precision and timing, but it's not all that hard. In fact, this extra height can be used to gain access to the east of Carmilla Cemetery since it allows you to jump over that otherwise impassable ledge just beyond that small stream of water.
Unfortunately, this sequence break doesn't save any time in a speedrun since going to this area is impractical until you have most of the other items in the game (or at least a much stronger whip). But, the "slightly higher" jump can be used at multiple locations throughout a speedrun to take some minor, time-saving shortcuts.
