DOOM (1993) | DOOM SERIES PT PART I (03/11/23)
2Since DOOM Eternal has been done and over with for a couple of years now, and no real DOOM content has come out since (sorry Mighty DOOM, you don't count), I've had the urge to play something DOOM related, but I've played the games so many times that I didn't know if I wanted to play them again just for shiz and gigs. However, I thought to myself, "Sure would be cool to play the entire series from beginning to end," and so here we are.
The games/stories included in this playthrough will be as follows: DOOM (1993), DOOM II, Final DOOM, DOOM 64, DOOM 3, DOOM 3: RoE, DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal, DOOM Eternal: TAG 1, and DOOM Eternal: TAG 2.
The only caveat I have added to that original thought is that I would like to do the games at their highest difficulties. However, there are a couple of problems with this: 1) the classic DOOM games (DOOM [1993], DOOM II, and Final DOOM) are ridiculous on "nightmare" difficulty, and so I will do them on "ultra-violence," which is the second hardest difficulty, and 2) the new DOOM games (DOOM [2016] and DOOM Eternal) have perma-death attached to "ultra-nightmare" difficulty, and since I'd like to finish this series eventually, I will drop down to "nightmare" (still the hardest difficulty, just no perma-death). DOOM 64, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: RoE should be fine, though.
Anyway, that's ten separate campaigns, and so I figure you can expect it to span a minimum of fifteen streams, but don't hold me to it. We'll see how it goes!
Nonetheless, welcome to the first stream! This episode will (hopefully) consist of the entirety of DOOM (1993), and will (hopefully) cross off the first game from the list on our journey through the series. Since its the first example of the classic DOOM games, I may try a bit on "nightmare," but I'm definitely no FPS pro, and DOOM (1993) can be seriously difficult on "nightmare" difficulty, so don't expect it to last more than a level or two!
