DOOM 2 Part 4: Doors and buttons everywhere.
The door-wall ratio in these levels is quite high. Not to mention the button-wall ratio.
Doom 2 has pretty solid level design. The levels themselves provide plenty of challenge, turning regular goons into dangerous foes. Especially in a few later levels will this means of 'upgrading' enemies become apparent.
For now, I also give a quick glimpse of a very... varied enemy. The Arch Vile's true effectiveness is VERY dependant on the level. Open fields make it lethal, while corners render it moot. He deals 20 direct damage, and 0-70 in the splash!
Another part is that they can bring back most enemies. Only Cyber-Demons, Spider Masterminds and other Arch-Viles are immune to this powerful spell. (yes, you can get more than 100% kill rating in that case).
They're also insanely fast and possess the fourth highest health bar.
Worst yet, there's only a ~4% chance of pain-stun to be inflichted, which can really hinder most tactics.
Use hit-and-run tactics using the shotgun, super shotgun or, in dire need, the BFG for an instant kill!
Good news: There are only 8-17 Arch Viles in the entire Doom 2 game, depending on difficulty.
