If you're familiar with Doom, you're probably aware that jumping isn't a thing in this game. Well, a few years ago I grabbed the zDoom client, which allows for jumping, among other things, most notably the ability to jump on monsters. I crafted this route on my own and it was enormously fun to work on. It's not often you get to see a game you played at age 4 look completely different 20 years later.

I've sat on this route for about 3 years now I believe, mostly because I couldn't find a reliable, clean way of recording it. But with tweaked settings it was eventually possible. I shut off the melting transition from level to level, so it was instant instead, which allowed for clean segment clipping. I also turned the music off while recording so I could save at the beginning of each level, and reload it as many times as needed. The music keeps going regardless despite reloading a save, so I recorded the music after the run was finished and edited it in level by level. Each level is its own segment, apart from MAP24 The Chasm which has 2 segments, MAP29 The Living End which has 4 segments, and MAP30 Icon of Sin which has 2. That makes for a total of 35 segments.

The run isn't 100% optimized, this took me about an hour to complete. You'll see me stumble a fair bit and run in to the occasional wall, but I wasn't concerned with perfection, otherwise I'd still be working away on the second level. This is also played on the lowest difficulty, mostly because I wanted to focus on the jumping aspect of this run and not have to deal with fighting. I'm also terrible at UV-Speed, so believe me, this is sweet mercy for your eyes. It's worth noting that this is not played on Ultra-Violence, so a few things will be a bit off for you. Doom afficionados will notice I don't visit MAP31. I don't know the official ruling on Doom 2 speedruns, if you need to visit the secret level for it to be considered a true full game run, or if that was done both for safety and speed in real runs. I assumed it was for speed purposes, so I played through MAP15, as it's slightly faster for me, being as slow as I am.

I believe that's all there is to mention. I hope you enjoy the run, it was a blast to make. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Enjoy!
