It's been nearly 6 years since I've touched Doom 2016. I'm replaying it during October 2023 to refresh my memory before playing Doom Eternal now that it's finally free of Denuvo garbage.

There's a lot to like about Doom 2016, but I'm playing on Hurt Me Plenty rather than Ultra-violence specifically due to one of its most glaring flaws: forced checkpoints instead of a save-anywhere system like literally every other Doom game before it. (I started a UV playthrough once in 2017, and ended up giving up at one particularly annoying checkpoint.)

While I'm not necessarily intending for this to be a 100% playthrough, I am making an effort to find as many secrets as possible, especially the classic levels (which are sometimes the hardest to find, because levers).
