0The official Doom 3 expansion developed by Nerve Software. Of course, it brings new enemies and weapons, like the fan-favorite super shotgun and a new weapon called the grabber, which can grab physics objects and projectiles and launch them. Some enemies and weapons have been outright replaced by the new ones. In addition, many gameplay issues from base Doom 3 were addressed. The multiplayer has also been improved, as a new gametype has been added and servers can hold up to 8 players.
The singleplayer story takes place two years after the events of Doom 3. A team of Marines find an ancient chamber where one of them holds the Artifact, a weapon from Hell. This awakens it and allows Dr. Betruger, now the Maledict, to launch another invasion on Mars, and sends the Hunters to retrieve the Artifact. But they eventually get defeated by the Marine, and then he goes on to activate a teleporter to the Delta Labs where the Hell portal is open once again. After a final showdown with the Maledict, the Artifact gets "returned", destroying both the Artifact and the Maledict. Then it all ends.
