Here is a little playthrough of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D with a SEGA Genesis / Megadrive soundfont passthrough. This is done by DOSBox-X's FluidSynth feature.

An easy to understand (but still probably bad) explanation of how this works: FluidSynth will "intercept" any notes outputted by the virtual SB16, and plays them through the soundfont instead.
Giving you a real-time "experience"

(I am better at these 2 games, my brain just doesn't wanna work today.)
