Heretic is an FPS game released in 1994 by Raven Software (published by id Software) which was re-released in 1996 under the name Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, which featured two new chapters. Based on the DOOM engine, Heretic has many of the staples of 90s FPS games, but also has some more unique features such as an inventory system, cowboy nightmares, and Hitachi Magic Wands.
