Part Of Transcript:
Developed by id Software, DOOM Eternal is the direct sequel to 2016’s DOOM, which won Best Action Game of 2016 at The Game Awards. Known for its high-octane gameplay, and viscerally violent kills, you’ll once again eviscerate your way through massive hordes of demons in this dark, campy, and violent first-person shooter. This game is Powered by idTech 7, and from the hands on preview the visuals are even more impressive as every bit of flesh and muscle blown off demons are painstakingly detailed, and yet somehow along with this graphic overall, the game will still run as buttery smooth as ever, allowing you to maintain those inhuman rapid movements. Journalist and attendees at Quakecon this year got to try the game out for themselves, and sure enough, there was nothing said but praise and critical acclaim for the game’s learning curve, way it handles death, the creativity of the kills, the game’s HUD, mob management, and of course, the adrenaline fueled soundtrack!
From what has been played so far the learning curve for the game is actually fairly steep. The tutorial will go through everything the player will need to know, and the resource management in this game will be just as pivotal here as it was in the 2016 game! You will constantly have to switch weapons as there is almost always enough demons to consume every last bullet in your inventory, and then once you’ve hit the bottom of the magazine, it’ll be up to you to switch to a chainsaw and replenish your ammo, and if you’re low on armor, then melt your enemies away with the flamethrower! Along with a larger inventory learning curve, is the revamped agility. This game is even more fast paced than 2016’s doom as you can now attack to surfaces and even demon themselves with a grapple, making you feel like a 300 pound, neighborhood friendly killing Spiderman. This increased agility can and will make you more deadly, but it can also lead to the game being a bit more deadly as well.
Sorry for not using much of the soundtrack here in the background, but unsurprisingly enough, music that makes you want to kick a door down, grab a gun, and send cursed nightmares back to hell, doesn’t compliment YouTube narration quite as well. Nevertheless, we all know the work done by Mick Gordon in the soundtrack for 2016’s DOOM was one of the best parts of the game. Afterall how can you kill demons efficiently if your blood isn’t fueled by energizing music? The attendees at Quakecon all mentioned that the soundtrack for DOOM Eternal was played at the start of every panel, party, and during every intermission. The developers put the soundtrack absolutely everywhere and the fans have all claimed they fell in love with it immediately. The songs somehow managed to thrash even harder in Eternal, and hype you up to new levels, making it to where even when you are defeated, the blaring music in the background encourages you to retry and get back into the fight right away!
