DOOM Eternal - The Ancient Gods Part Two | Full Blind Playthrough (Review in desc.)
What I think of the DLC: 6/10.
Positives:
- Good payoff lore wise and interesting ending. There are subtle ways they use the lore which is really cool and Immora is a work of art.
- The DLC warns you before hand that you are going to need to understand the mechanics of the game and thus delivers moments when each mechanic of the game is neccessary which is nice.
- The soundtrack works great with the gameplay again, excellent work from David Levy and Andrew Hulshult.
- Screechers are cool. Stone Imps are satisfying to shoot with the full auto and it makes me want to use full auto more. Cursed prowlers are really dangerous but they are easy to dodge and they don't have much health, if they were possessed they would probably be a nightmare.
Negatives:
- Dark Lord didn't really do much while he was around.
- Armored Barons missing potential.
- TLDR: TAG 2 is a lot easier than TAG 1.
TAG 1 had condensed arenas with huge enemy counts for those arenas. TAG 2 goes for more open arenas, but it feels like there are less enemies though I am not entirely sure about that. Some of the arenas in TAG 2 had a lot of height it was only ever used well a few times, more enemies with specific advantages in arenas would increase the difficulty and make the experience more challenging.
In regards to Armored Barons missing potential, they are just really easy to predict and don't really add the pressure a super heavy usually adds but this is because of how they are used. Had an Armored Baron been possessed, or if I had to fight multiple armored barons at once they would probably prove to be a much harder threat. That or pair them with other demons which require a lot of attention to pressure the player (Marauders, Blood Makyrs, Archviles).
