Longer episode today. Which it wouldn't have been had I actually played with saving. But I was dumb. Very dumb. And that stupidity got me dying. Including, once more, running into the "it won't let me respawn" glitch.

When then fixed itself, after I had corrected for it. Argh. Look, the game shouldn't be allowing saves when you're dead anyway. And without auto saves at the beginning of the level, I'll do what I have to do to get back to a rough approximation of where I started.

Episode 4 was an add on to Doom. Becoming The Ultimate Doom. And it is basically what Final Doom is for Doom 2. A harder version, a challenge for more skilled players. And I was failing whoo boy was I failing. I did make it through, but there was a lot of just getting my face caved in by a cyberdemon rocket. There's three in this episode. Three. In 8 levels. Level 2 alone has 11 Barons of Hell. Like I said, challenge ramped up. Hey, if it were Final Doom, those would be revenants, chiangunners, and archviles. Here it's just shotgunners and barons of hell. ...Joy.

But that's Doom, complete with the Retcon and the origin of Daisy. Ah, good times. The Ray Tracing has some absolutely stunning areas. And a lot of areas where it simply doesn't work. It's still really neat and I'm glad it exists. As for Doom itself... what? It's an absolute masterpiece.
