Doom. Is there a better FPS? Heck, is there a better game? This game has been ported to many platforms, but one clearly stands out above the rest. The Playstation version. The Playstation version has added colored lighting effects not seen on PC, has a totally different soundtrack, totally different sound effects for everything from weapons to door sounds, and environmental ambient sound effects. Overall the end product was better than the original IMO. The music fits better, the demons sound meaner, the weapons sound awesome and it just feels more like.......you're doomed.
Even though PC ports such as ZDoom, GZDoom, JDoom, BDoom all have more to offer visually, the Playstation version still stands on it's own. So much in fact that there has been a total conversion of the Playstation version done on the PC.
It was a genius idea for ID software to take the hit title that had already been ported to many platforms and change it up and make it unique. It was also nice of them to include Doom 2. Unfortunately the Sega Saturn version would have been just as unique if it hadn't been for all the framerate problems it had.
