Perdition's Gate's MAP16 is one of my favorites. I always loved the visuals of this map combined with the exciting and challenging fights. Every fight really feels different despite most of them are gonna put you on your toes. Not only that, I love killing demons to that groovy song. It's also nice this is the first Perdition's Gate map I remade is one of the bigger ones.

This map is probably the hardest one I worked on. The part with the towers of Revenants took so long and I had to keep it on changing things and there were also some other parts that weren't simple to recreate.

Just like my MAP18 remake from Doom 2, it felt amazing when I was done with the map. Remaking your favorite Doom maps in SnapMap is probably the most rewarding feeling I can get when I make maps. There might be some stuff I'll try to polish out as far the mapping goes, but I'm fairly content with it so far.

The remade version does have some differences because the grid the module wasn't big enough to put all five squares on it. Also, the original map required you to hunt for switches so you can walk to the exit by raising the platforms you needed to have. In Doom 2016, you can double jump which defeats the purpose of that. So I decided to let you hunt for switches to enter the area with the exit instead.

Since Doom 2016 plays differently than classic Doom, I did a lot of stuff to keep things balanced like having more goodies placed on the map compared to the original map. This map is too strenuous if you don't know the secrets, so I abandoned having lives and relied on checkpoints.

Now I'm done with MAP16. I wonder if I should attempt to remake MAP27. It's probably not possible right now or maybe forever.
