https://www.moddb.com/games/chex-quest/downloads/chex-quest-3-official-release "Doom Clone", they say it still even today but the word was so often used back in the day following Doom's release that it seemed most games weren't able to stand out until build engine games dominated, but rare was the example to stand out with the Doom engine. Believe it or not back in the 1990's and early 2000's there was a thing of having CD's come from cereal boxes and one was Chex Quest from Digital Cafe.

In 2008, Charles Jacobi, a former Digital Cafe employee released Chex Quest 3, which would earn a 2008 cacoaward and also which remade the original Chex Quest and Chex Quest 2 with new visuals and a third episode to make a complete story. Chex Quest is basically a Doom clone but instead of the hard rock and gore of Doom its colorful art and lesser violence with a flair that Doom's influence gives to Chex Quest.

Controlling Chex Warrior, our pistol is a laser blaster and we're shooting the goopy and slimey Flemoidus monsters which replace the typical doom monsters, we're hunting keys and using the traditional movement we know well from Doom but it did surprise me a bit we needed a crouch and jump key to clear episode 3's somewhat tougher part. Its rare that I've actually done a entire wad post video but I couldn't stop playing because it was so fun, I recommend this one for anyone who wants to see a caocaward winner that 100 percent deserved it.
