Doom Wads/Mods #586:Lunatic
https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/j-l/lunatic We have lift off, time to go into space where no marine has gone before and kitchen ace. Space themed wads are a rare treat for me because the vistas of space or planets have stood out as something unique ever since my first foray into Earth, Phobos, Solar Struggle with those 3 leading me being the best examples.
Give a winner slot at the 2011 cacoawards but also said wad that lead to its creator getting the creator of the year cacoaward, Lunatic is a 5 level wad released on August 11th 2011 and authored by Paul BeBruyne, you may know him better as Skillsaw who had worked on maps in Back to Saturn X Episode 1 & 2, Unholy Realms, and author of Valiant, Ancient Aliens, and Eviternity among other works, so you know, that with those wads under his belt, Lunatic will be something special.
With an original story of a massive ball of demons hitting the moon, its falling out of orbit and headed towards earth, we have to escape at all costs. Lunatic feels like a futuristic vanguard in a way with its usage of ammo puzzles, critical decision making in tight corners, heavy hitting ambushes and by default, mandatory secret hunting if you don't want to end up face down. I applaud Lunatic for showing Skillsaw's ever present detail and creativity.
