What a journey its been... When it comes to sword and shield and the time it has been released a lot has happened. Not only has the community shifted and changed their overall attitude towards the franchise, but I have changed along with my attitude and perspective as well. I always felt comfortable by the constants of Pokémon; following the general formulas of the story, competitive play, and the sentimental value of the ones you trained. This generation it all changed... A massive outbreak of hatred and toxicity from the community unleashed (myself included for a time), and we were all worse for it. We were scared of the change, for the game was going to be no longer the same. Come time for the game to be released everyone's expectations were very low, some remained unimpressed, but for many it was a breath of fresh air from a very stale 10 years of content. Sometimes it takes change in something to remind you why you cherished it to begin with.
