Open to crafting this with you further, Daniel, but the idea here is that the stage for effective psychedelic integration is set even before the psychedelic experience, in the preparation phase, where intention is clarified, education/research is done to understand how to consciously use the medicine, what the effects are of the medicine physicologically, psychologically, and spiritually, and how to optimize set and setting. It is my experience clinically and personally that when preparation is done properly, the integration process often unfolds naturally, intuitively, spontaneously, and effortlessly, guided by the participant's inner healing intelligence, and with little need for explicit guidance or direction by the guide/therapist needed.
Dr. Sienknecht is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in San Francisco and co-founder of Polaris Insight Center, a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy clinic and training center. He is also a sub-investigator and study therapist in the MAPS sponsored clinical trials for treatment of PTSD with MDMA psychotherapy. His specialities include treating mood disorders, trauma, and chronic pain and providing integration support for psychedelic experiences. He is passionate about exploring the intersection of psychedelics and music.
