I'm just re-learning how to play the game and pull off some moves in the training, tournament and Duel-modes as Android/Cyborg 18.

The game does include some characters from the Buu-saga such as Great Saiyaman Gohan, Mr Satan/Hercule and such but the story mode ends after Cell has been defeated - it also has some what-if scenarions and such including a tournament-mode.

This were the first ever Dragon ball game that I ever owned, released for the Playstation 2 in November 2002 - I remember being quite good at it, unlocking everything in it and replaying the story mode many times. I also used to watch the AI/CPU fight itself for fun.

So, this game is the first in the BUDOKAI series and as such it was pretty darn good in my opinion when it released. Of course it can't compete with the later titles in certain areas as the later titles have improved on these areas.

Areas where this game shines - It has actual cinematic videos playing in the story mode with 3D characters fully animated and voiced which I thought was pretty epic and it also is unique for this title, it has 3D models like the PS1 game but unlike in the former they look good here - in the later games these were switched out for cellshaded anime-styled models - and I always thought these 3d ones looked better than the ones from the BUDOKAI 2-game and thirdly this game has BY FAR the BEST music out of all the official DBZ games released in the West.

I do remember replaying the story mode just for the music, and the best thing is that the music is in the free battle-mode as well. Unfortunately each song is set on a specific stage so you cannot use whichever song you'd like on any stage like in the later titles.

The music was unfortunately remixed plagiarized songs from real-life artists.. So the "new" remaster of this game released for the PlayStation 3 in 2014 replaced all the songs and the new can't compete with the old. The Remaster has better graphical resolution though.
