Previously, the party concluded the soap opera drama in Greenthumb Gardens of the past. At least, for the time being. They also did a little grinding and picked up Edged Boomerangs for Davilas and Ruff. Now, they will check out the cave northwest of town.
After resuming, they leave Greenthumb Gardens (time 0:59).
To the northwest, they find the entrance to the Grody Grotto (time 1:42). Look out for the poison muck outside and inside. They begin on floor 1F. Bring Edged Boomerangs and plenty of Medicinal Herbs.
They drop down the hole north of the entrance to the southern part of floor B1 (time 2:43). However, there is nothing to find down this way.
To the southeast, they go back upstairs to floor 1F (time 4:20).
In the northwest of 1F, they take the stairway down to the northern part of floor B1 (time 6:20).
After a battle, Ruff, the Wolf Boy, reaches Level 9 (time 6:51).
To the southeast, they take the next stairway down to the main section of floor B2 (time 7:41). Start looking out for Drake Slimes, which blast fiery breath. It is not very damaging, but it can add up.
Ruff reaches Level 10 (time 12:03).
In the northeast, they descend the next stairway to the main section of floor B3 (time 13:11).
In the west, they drop down the hole to the northwest section of floor B4 (time 14:20).
To the north, they go upstairs to the northern section of floor B3 (time 14:28).
Continuing around, they ascend to a small section in the north of floor B2 (time 14:34). There, they find Green Fragment 8! Sweet!
They return downstairs to floor B3 (time 15:03).
Then, they drop down the hole to floor B4 (time 15:07).
The stairway to the west leads back to the main part of floor B3 (time 15:13).
To the south, they go downstairs to the main southern portion of floor B4 (time 16:51).
In the southwest of B4, the eastern chest is actually a Cannibox (time 17:00). How uncanny! The other chest is empty.
They take the northern door (time 19:03). This leads to a central corridor on floor B4.
They continue north (time 19:33). They are now in the northeastern part of the floor.
A scene occurs as they go down the ramp to the east (time 19:42). They run into a group of monsters that is ambushing treasure-hunters!
After the scene, the party battles Grody Gumpdrops and his duo of Goodybags (time 20:17). The Goodybags have irritating moves that can dran party members' MP and waste their turns laughing. Grody Gumpdrops has Sizz and the more powerful upgrade, Sizzle. Grody can also use Dazzleflash.
Hopefully, you conserved MP on the way here. Obviously, it is a good idea to focus on eliminating the Goodybags first. Once the Goodybags are down, the party can focus on Grody. Davilas's Midheal is very helpful when Grody fries the party with Sizzle.
At the end of the battle, Kiefer, the Prince of Estard, reaches Level 15 (time 23:38). He learns Undead Undoer, which deals additional damage to undead. Ruff reaches Level 11.
Past Grody, the chest to the west contains 50 gold (time 24:56).
On the eastern side, the western chest contains Mini Medal #013 (time 25:35).
The far eastern chest is another Cannibox (time 26:25). At least it leaves 150 gold.
After another battle, Maribel, the Mayor's Daughter, reaches Level 15 (time 28:00).
The party takes the southern door (time 29:02). On the eastern ledge in the southern part of B4, they find Green Fragment 7 on the ground. Yippee! They are now done in here.
The party Evacs out of the Grody Grotto (time 29:54).
They go back to Greenthumb Gardens (time 30:45). They pick up a Leather Whip (1,300 gold) for Maribel. They also grab an Iron Helmet (1,100 gold) for Davilas. I do not recommend getting any upgrades for Kiefer, though. The reasons will become apparent in the upcoming scenario.
The party also stocks up on Medicinal Herbs at the item shop. Too bad there aren't any Strong Medicines available. This is a town that specializes in herbs, after all.
The party takes the teleportal back to the Shrine of Mysteries (time 33:13).
In the Assembly Room, they go ahead and install the Green Fragments they found in the Grody Grotto (time 33:27). Both go in the lower-left Green Pedestal. Green Fragment 7, found on the section of floor B4 after the boss, goes in the upper-left corner. Green Fragment 8, found in the isolated northern part of floor B2, goes in the upper-right corner.
The description is continued in the comments.
