This is video #004 in my playthrough of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on the PlayStation 4. I am playing the game vanilla. This game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. This video does not contain commentary.

Previously, in the town of Riverwood, Davilas recruited Faendal as a follower, and he accepted Lucan Valerius's quest "The Golden Claw". He has been directed to go up the northwestern mountain to Bleak Falls Barrow and recover the stolen Golden Claw. He will need something else in Bleak Falls as part of the storyline, so he will do this now.

After resuming in Riverwood, Davilas makes his way up the northwestern mountain to Bleak Falls Barrow. There is a tower with bandits along the way. Davilas appropriates the heavy iron armor from one of them. The tower at the top may have some gold and other goodies.

Farther up the mountain, Davilas arrives at Bleak Falls Barrow, the first of the innumerable burial crypts scattered around Skyrim. Once he has discovered this place, he can fast-travel here. There are more bandits around the exterior up here.

Davilas leads the way into Bleak Falls Temple, the first portion of Bleak Falls Barrow. There are some bandits in the first chamber of this area.

When Davilas reaches Level 2, he advances his Magicka. He puts his first perk point into the One-handed perk Armsman, which boosts one-handed damage.

Deeper inside, he finds a door puzzle. The solution, from left to right, is Snake, Snake, Fish.

Past the door puzzle, Davilas finds a book named "Thief", which increases his Sneak skill.

Spider webs should be your indication that spiders are up ahead.

Farther in, he finds Arvel the Swift, who was not swift enough to escape a Wounded Frostbite Spider! Somehow, the deathblow scene got bugged, so I had to start the battle over. No biggie.

Arvel the Swift will flee when freed. You can kill him before he runs, but I'm not that nasty. Unfortunately for him, he will run into some Draugr! When he is killed, one way or the other, his corpse will yield the Golden Claw and Arvel's Journal. Armed with these, Davilas can continue to find the secrets of Bleak Falls Barrow. Arvel's Journal has a helpful clue.

Continuing on, look out for Draugr hiding on their shelves. There are also oil slicks on the ground that can be ignited with fire or hanging lanterns. The hanging lanterns can be knocked down through many means, such as a bow.

At the end, Davilas reaches the door to Bleak Falls Sanctum. When he reaches Level 3, he boosts his Health. Under Destruction, he puts a perk point into the perk Novice Destruction, which halves the magicka cost of novice-level Destruction spells.

Next time, Davilas will continue on into Bleak Falls Sanctum and solve the mystery of Bleak Falls Barrow.
