Previously, the party got through Rank C and Rank B in the Monster Arena. Then, they recruited Skeledoid and Octurion to help with the next two ranks. The team is now Talos, Skeledoid, and Octurion.
The party resumes in the Monster Arena. Down at the registration counter, they spend 1,000 gold to sign up for Rank A (time 1:32).
A scene plays to introduce Round 1 of Rank A (time 2:08).
Then, Round 1 against the Big Boys begins (time 3:06).
A scene plays to introduce Round 2 (time 4:46). Hey, it's Tom from Chateau Felix!
Then, Round 2 against the Wild Cats begins (time 5:55). Tom seems a little confused; jackals are canines, not felines.
A scene plays to introduce Round 3 (time 7:40).
Then, Round 3 against Fear Factor begins (time 8:53). The Bomboulder and the Treevil can both resurrect, which could be annoying.
Hargon's Heroes clear Rank A (time 10:49). Yay! The registar rewards the party with a Hero Spear. Morrie rewards them with the ability to recruit up to 21 monsters at a time. This is definitely new to the PS2 version. Furthermore, Morrie offers the party another challenge: Rank S. In Rank S, they will finally do battle against Morrie himself.
In attack power, the Hero Spear is better than the Demon Spear, but it does not have the instand death effect. So, take your pick.
After saving, the party visits the registration counter (time 17:50). They spend 1,000 gold to sign Hargon's Heroes up for Rank S.
A scene plays to introduce Round 1 of Rank S (time 18:20). Ah, welcome, Torneko Taloon from Dragon Quest IV!
Then, Round 1 against Taloon's Treasures begins (time 19:23). The boss music plays during this tournament. These treasures are quite violent.
A scene plays to introduce Round 2 (time 21:19). Well well, it's Ragnar McRyan and Healie, also from Dragon Quest IV.
Then, Round 2 against Healie's Heelies begins (time 22:28). Healie the Healslime is supporting a couple of bruisers. Too bad my team isn't smart enough to take Healie out first.
A scene plays to introduce Round 3 (time 25:17). Morrie was even more over-the-top in the PS2 version.
Then, Round 3 against Morrie's Glories begins (time 27:20). The Liquid Metal Slime in the first position is annoying. So is the Cureslime in the last position. Here is another round where it would be helpful to be able to control the monster team.
Thanks to some on-point healing from Octurion, Hargon's Heroes clear Rank S (time 31:27). Stunned, the registrar rewards the party with a Dragon Robe, an excellent piece of armour. After congratulating them, Morrie asks the party to join him on the roof, where they first met him.
The next part of the scene takes place on the roof (time 33:51). Morrie has set up a nice statue. Now that the party has helped make Morrie's dream come true, he vows to help them in return. Morrie joins the party! He is one of two new party members in the PS2 version. King Trode comments on the growing entourage. The lineup can only contain four party members, so inactive members will remain with King Trode to guard the carriage.
The description is continued in the comments.
