Drone Over Las Vegas Strip: My Biggest Risk and What I Learned 🚁🔥
Flashback to 2018—I was filming a music video at the iconic Hard Rock Cafe on Las Vegas Boulevard. Feeling bold (or maybe a little reckless), I decided to launch my drone from the second floor of the Hard Rock Cafe and fly it over the Boulevard. Why? Honestly, I think it was more about seeing if I could do it rather than if I should do it. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t my brightest moment. 😅
Here's the thing: flying a drone in such a high-traffic, complex airspace is no joke. Between the crowded streets, towering buildings, and tight regulations, the risks were massive—both for the public and for my gear. And let’s not even talk about the FAA's rules. 🤦♂️
💡 Pro Tip: NEVER take risks like this without being fully prepared and knowing the regulations inside and out. Flying a drone isn’t just about getting cool shots—it’s about safety, responsibility, and respecting the laws that are there to protect everyone.
I’m grateful nothing went wrong that day, but it was a huge wake-up call. Looking back, I realized that being a great videographer isn’t about being reckless; it’s about being calculated, prepared, and knowing when to not take the shot.
