Duke Nukem 3D is the other game which I consider to my an Archetype of First Person Shooters. The game was made after Doom and was a considerably step up in regards to having an Inventory with special gear, interacting with with the landscape with explosions to open up new areas, and most importantly having a character with a persona attached to him. What's more, it also featured basic puzzles you needed to solve to continue progressing through the game.

I personally didn't play much of Duke Nukem 3D because when I got the full game I had Unreal Tournament and other FPS shooters that had since outclassed it - but the game was certainly a fun one in its time - much like how Duke Nukem Forever would have been fun if it had been finished and released sooner, a poor legacy for Duke....

I'll note that unlike my other games - I got Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition from GoG.com for free during the Holiday sale. The sale is most likely over but be sure to check out GoG.com for interesting old games like these - which are usually quite cheap now. GoG.com sells a lot of the old classic games like these, and unlike in RGBGames, you're getting the full complete game.
