Dungeon Hunter III | Android/iOS Longplay, Full Game, No Commentary
51Released in 2011 for iOS and later for Android, Dungeon Hunter 3 marked a major turning point in Gameloft’s action RPG series — and not necessarily in a good way. Unlike the previous two entries, which offered full campaigns, dungeon exploration, and an actual storyline, DH3 abandoned all of that in favor of a free-to-play, arena-based structure. Gone were the sprawling levels and loot-driven quests — replaced with bite-sized combat arenas and energy timers.
Players could still choose from four classes (Warlord, Astromancer, Trickster, Shaman), level up, and collect gear, but progression was heavily gated behind cooldowns and premium currency. Each of the game’s 16 environments had multiple difficulty levels, but it all started to feel repetitive fast without a proper narrative or sense of adventure to tie things together.
Visually, the game looked great for its time, and the combat was still responsive — but for fans of the original Dungeon Hunter titles, Dungeon Hunter 3 felt like a stripped-down, monetized shadow of what came before. The addition of multiplayer modes later on added some life to the game, but it never quite recaptured the magic that made the series special in the first place.
