Our party is split up for this stage, but they rejoin at the midway point. Just put a healer on both ends and slowly push up, then make your way past the bottleneck to reach the bulk of the enemy's forces condensed in the port town.

Cai Mao is an enemy here, but we can recruit him by having Yuan Shao or Masayuki talk to him. He's useful right from the start and can promote into a Wyvern Lord, so he'll have a lot of utility down the line. Even if he is an incredibly boring character in and of himself. Just make sure no one kills him when luring him closer, like say Shao with his Rapier equipped.

Getting close to Regent Ab can be a bit difficult since there are enemy knights on forts with archers behind them, and if you stick near them you can lure other enemies over and potentially get someone obliterated. Cai Mao and Masayuki can take advantage of having Canto to whittle them down, so you can use that to your advantage. You can also have someone attack, then Rescue them out of the enemies attack range since the knights and archers don't move. However, the archers will move when the knights are killed, so that's something to watch out for.

Approaching Ab after that can still be a challenge since there's an enemy on the map with a Purge tome, long range light magic, and other enemies are placed around to attack anyone that might draw near. Ab himself isn't too difficult to fight, however.

Cai Mao - Whilst boring, he is very strong and ends up a valuable member of the party. He can promote into either a Paladin or a Wyvern Lord. The latter is the better option, but gives him more weaknesses, to arrows and magic so keep that in mind. Not much to say, he does his job well and never gives you any reason to complain.

SUB BOSS Cai Mao - If for some reason you don't want to recruit Cai Mao, he will be treated as a sub boss here. Shao with the Rapier can delete him, but if not he is just effectively a stronger cavalier with stronger weapons, so regular tactics still apply.

BOSS Regent Ab - Another promoted boss, but not too challenging. He will hit hard, even against your own mages, and he is on a fort that grants him even more protection, however your party should be coming along just nicely right about now so it's all a matter of putting them to the test. There's no trick to this one, just make sure to keep your party healed and beware of his decent critical chance.
