Dwelling Sin | Zombies: Re-Animated | No Failure Runs | Part 1
I wondered for a good while if I should do the easy low hanging fruit, combining DSin with an addon I cobbled up ages ago that separates the zombies and BOWs from Doomero's Codename HUNK mod. I already got a RE themed reskin after all, should be no biggie, right?
Ended up swerving over a different lane when I saw a fella trying to mix DSin with Zombies TC, an old mod from 1997. That lad didn't quite succeed, but I was inspired to attempt something similar with a few considerations in mind.
I've already played a recent revival of the mod, Extreme Epidemic Edition. Goodness knows I helped a bit in some of the assets, though looking back I probably could've done them better (and a bit more accurate to the movie's weapons). But, another revival caught my eye, Re-Animated. This one appears to aim for a more original TC accuracy sort of gameplay, with some zombies having the ability to leap at you and zero friendlies aside from the helpless civilians. It hit me that it'd make for a pretty decent inbetween.
Decided then to wiretear it a bit and see what'll happen if I do mix things up. No particularly strict kind of rules for the run. Just the usual no midmap save loading. Couldn't even get 100% on these maps since I remember enemies getting stuck behind windows or in their teleport closets, unable to enter the space where I can engage them.
With that said, I think I might try out the "pausing off in inventory" setting for this run. Ought to bring back that franticness of navigating inventories like Cry of Fear's. I'll also try to have some trigger discipline and not shoot the civvies at first sight, though I won't lose sleep if they ended up dropping from getting in the way of a firefight. Not like I can tell them to get down or move somewhere else.
