Dynamite Dux (PAL) On SEGA Master System Part 1

In 1988 came a SEGA game that hit the Arcades called ''Dynamite Dux'' in which the player took control of ''Bin'' a pet blue Duck of ''Lucy'' who has been kidnapped by an evil creature called ''Achacha The Great'' the player's role in the game was to rescue her by venturing out into different dimensions and real life places around the world to conquer the many strange beasts along the way. Bin the Duck could defeat enemies by simply punching and kicking aswell as picking up guns and bombs that were scattered along the paths. A second player could join in on the Arcade action by playing as ''Pin'' a red Duck who was also a pet from Lucy.

In 1989 SEGA released ''Dynamite Dux'' on their home console the SEGA Master System but to fit the console's limitations certain aspects of the original game had to be changed, for instance in this SEGA Master System version it is only a 1player game and only ''Bin'' the blue Duck is available for play. The storyline of the game was also changed, in the Arcade version Bin and Pin were Lucy's pet Ducks who played with her in the meadow, in this SEGA Master System version ''Pin'' is dropped as it is only a 1player game and ''Bin'' is now Lucy's hunky boyfriend who now has the new name of ''Mickael Bin'' watching her jump up and down in the meadow until that ugly, evil Achacha monster comes and kidnapps her, when Lucy is kidnapped Mickael transforms into a blue Duck as a curse. To revert back to human form, Mickael has to defeat Achacha and rescue his girlfriend Lucy, and out of the 5 original stages of the Arcade game, 1 stage has been dropped making this version a trek through only 4 worlds. The SEGA Master System cover art of the game is also screwed up, it displays ''Pin'' the red Duck hurling a bomb towards his enemies when Pin isn't even in this version of the game, and finally the title of the game itself is also wrong, since the SEGA Master System version is only a 1player game it should be called ''Dynamite Duck'' not ''Dynamite Dux''.

Whoever marketed this version didn't think very hard about the changes but overall I think this is a fantastic conversion, I grew up with this version as a kid hiring it from the local video rental shop as I never got the chance to play the Arcade original. In this version the graphics are beautifully designed, the music is very relaxing and catchy adding a Jazz flavour to the soundtrack, the controls are very comfortable and finally the enemies are very, very easy to defeat. The only fault I find wrong with it is that it's far too short, it is only a 20 minute game.

This has been recorded from the Master-Mega Converter on the SEGA Mega Drive model 1 console.

Enjoy!
